Irene George Mastoras Moutos, 73, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 after an arduous and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in the village of Kalesmeno in Evrytania, Greece to the parents of George and Evanthia Mastoras. Throughout her life she was always active in the lives of her children, community and the Annunciation of the Greek Orthodox Church. She was an artist at heart with her ""secret"" art studio tucked away upstairs away from view and she loved to dance. Irene loved everyone and her sparkling eyes and open arms were always welcoming people. She loved to throw a party but yet her simple presence warmed the hearts of those around her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Chris Moutos. Surviving are her three children Fred Chris Moutos, George Chris Moutos (Stamey) and Timothy Chris Moutos; grandchildren, Chris T., Samuel, Chris G., Spero and Matthew; her brothers Bill Mastoras and Pete Mastoras (Dina); and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins. Over the past 20 years Laverne Carruthers, Tanesha Hill, Carolyn Brandon, Betty Nagel and Violeta Llanaj and their families became an integral part of our family and they, along with her numerous friends, provided her with laughter, love and care. As well, the love and companionship of her sisters Elizabeth Vlasis, Virginia Moutos, Dina Mastoras, Litsa Tsiolkas and Sia Leloudis provided her with cherished memories. One word for Irene - LOVE. This verse from 1 Corinthians 13:11 speaks for herâ¦""Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Funeral services for Mrs. Moutos will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Father Demetri Kangelaris officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 PM at the church, with a Trisagion service at 7:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Greater Carolinas Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis, 3101 Industrial Drive, Ste 210, Raleigh, NC 27609 or to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at 435 Keating Drive, W-S, NC 27104.
