Mrs. Iris Lineberry Pope Bailey, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away on January 2, 2017 at her residence. She was born on May 12, 1928 in Carroll County, VA to Cicero Holmes and Gatha Fowler Lineberry. She was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. Iris graduated from NC Baptist Hospital in 1949, then went on to retire as a registered nurse. She was the founder and charter member of the Winston-Salem Elks Lodge #449 Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active in the Eastern Star and with the Forsyth Medical Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry C. Pope and Clarence ""Mike"" Bailey, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ruth Dalton and Almeda Bryant. Iris is survived by sons; Michael A. Pope, Sr. of Advance; Damon J. Pope of Clemmons, a daughter Dawn A. Pope of Ponte Vedra, FL; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, January 6, 2017 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating, reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
