Mrs. Iris Woosley Poplin, 79, passed away peacefully at home, and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on on Thursday, August 10, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. Iris, known to her loved-ones as ""Peep"" was born on April 27, 1938 to Theodore ""Ted"" Woosley and Elfleda Fulcher Woosley in Forsyth County. She graduated from Clemmons School and became a Navy wife, traveling the country with her beloved husband, Don. She and Don owned and operated Stratford Exxon, a business that remains in the family. She spent many days driving her grandchildren to cheerleading and sports practices, events and competitions. Iris was a fine example of a good Christian woman, caring for her home and family in a variety of ways from cooking to gardening, and much more. A thought from Iris follows: ""Thank you all for being my wonderful family. My Tammy, and Ash, and Christopher. Ash taught us all to love. All of you are so special and I loved you deeply. Try to always remember the good times we had. I will see you all again in Heaven. The good bye for now is only temporary. Good bye for now and love, Mom and Nanny. My family was my treasure and friends."" In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Don Poplin; and a sister, Hilda. Survivors include her children, Chris (Susan), Karen, Phyllis (Mike), and Tammy; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Christopher Slater; brother, Tommy; sisters, Dot, Marilyn, Norma, Pat, and Janet; as well as her cat, Tinker; and parrot, Yankee Doodle. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
