Iva Stinson

Iva Alberty Stinson, 82, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019. Iva was the daughter of Viola and Warren Alberty, and she was born on June 12, 1936. She grew up in Dobson, NC and graduated from Dobson High School. Iva attended East Carolina University and graduated from Salem College. She married Dr. Harold Stinson on September 4, 1954. Iva worked with Dr. Stinson in his veterinary practice for years. She taught Sunday School at Clemmons First Baptist Church for 30 plus years. Iva enjoyed travel. She and Harold traveled together to six continents. Iva loved to entertain at their Winston-Salem home and their mountain home. She loved being with her friends and playing bridge. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Surviving are her children, Robin Stinson and husband, Mike Fagan, and Patricia Murphy and husband, Richard Murphy; grandchildren, Scarlett Murphy, Julianna Murphy, and Candace Mulherin; and brother, Ray Alberty and wife, Glenda of Dobson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memoriam to Crisis Control Ministry at 200 E Tenth St, Winston Salem, NC, 27101. The family wishes to thank the staff at Homestead Hills Skilled Nursing for the loving care provided to their mother and grandmother.
