Ivey Smith

WINSTON SALEM - Mr. Ivey Dumont Smith, 90, passed away on March 18, 2018 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. Dumont was born on November 12, 1927 in Forsyth County to Ivey Blain and Diana Bodenhamer Smith. Dumont was an active member of Wallburg Baptist Church working with the youth most of his life. He was a well-known carpenter, farmer and gardener. He loved sharing produce from his garden with others.
In addition to his parents, Dumont was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lessie Finch Smith; a son, Jimmy Ray Smith; a grandson, Monty Smith; two sisters, Hilda Smith and Mildred Inez Williard.
Surviving are his sister, Carolyn Davis (Reid); a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors; as well as his beloved cats, Mandy and Buddy.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., March 22, 2018 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Roy Cantrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
