Mr. Jack Douglas Cardwell, 93, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at his home in Winston-Salem. He was born on March 11, 1933, in Westfield to the late Arthur Cardwell and Verda Smith Cardwell. Jack served in the United States Army for three years. He retired from his maintenance position at RJ Reynolds after 33 years. Jack enjoyed golfing, watching Nascar races, and keeping up with the stock markets. He had a lifelong passion for trading cars and attending local car auctions. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Jessup Cardwell, three brothers, Billy, Bobby, and Junior Cardwell, and three sisters, Louise Cole, Gertrude Farrar, Katherine Cardwell. He is survived by one son, Michael Cardwell (Jenny), two grandchildren, Megan Greene (Jackson), and Morgan Smith (Jonathan), four great-grandchildren, Ally, Bristol, Vera, and Caden, a grand-dog, Honey, and a special niece, Kim Rhue and husband Billy. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday June 5, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Dr. Rev. Virgil Dwyer officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Crestview Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Stanleyville 851 Ziglar Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Mountain Valley Hospice P.O. Box 325 Dobson, NC 27017.
