Mr. Jack Raymond Eddinger, 86, of Winston-Salem, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born August 2, 1926 to William S. ""Jack"" and Mabel P. Eddinger. He attended Griffith High School prior to joining the U.S. Navy. He graduated with honors from both the Naval Air Gunners School in Jacksonville, FL and the Naval Air Technical Training School in Memphis, TN. He then served as an Aviation Machinist Mate aboard the USS Anzio and as a gunner on a PBY amphibious aircraft during WWII. He later served in the Naval Reserves aboard the USS Siboney. On August 10, 1946, he married Annie Frye, who survives him. He retired from Rebb Industries in Yadkinville, of which he was a founding partner. He was a charter member of Griffith Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member and ""candy man."" He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Gladys Blair and brothers, Bill, Bob and Jerry. Jack was always generous with his time, talents and resources. He was greatly loved and respected and will be sorely missed. Survivors, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Sheila (Jim) Little and Sherri (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren, Heath (Neva) Little, Joshua (Amy) Little, Jacob Eddinger-Smith, Annie E. (Josh) Frank; great-grandchildren, Jack, Evan, Kimball, James and Ella Little and Sophie and Lola Frank; sisters, Jane Ketchie, Ann Lambeth and brother, Jimmy. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Griffith Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Brown and Rev. Mike Willard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Griffith Baptist Church, 1987 Old Salisbury Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to The Salvation Army, 130-A Stratford Ct., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
