Jack Y. Gardin

Mr. Jack Y. Gardin, 85, of Hiddenite, NC, formerly of Glenwood, NC passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at Regency Care of Clemmons. He was born Dec. 17, 1928 in McDowell County to Arthur and Vernie Gardin. Mr. Gardin worked at Drexel Heritage Furniture of Marion, NC for 47 years. He taught Sunday School to young teenage boys for 12 years at Vein Mtn. Baptist Church in Marion. Mr. Gardin enjoyed time with his family and always tried to teach the importance of family. His hobbies were gardening, babysitting his grandchildren, and tending to his chickens. He had a talent for joking and making people laugh. He leaves as his legacy his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and his sister, Lucille. He is survived by his sons, Jack L. Gardin and wife, Lynn of Mount Airy, Rick R. Gardin and wife, Jean of Clemmons, and Arthur L. Gardin and wife, Beth of Clemmons; grandchildren, Amy Linville and husband, Aaron, Andrea Gardin, Annette Gardin, Jennifer Gardin, and step-grandson, Calvin Breeden; brothers, Jay Gardin and wife, Mary Ann of Marion, and Jerry Gardin and wife, Debbie of Glenwood; as well as several nieces and nephews. A private, family service will be held. Interment will be at McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
