Jack Dee Hilliard, Jr.

Dr. Jack Dee Hilliard, Jr., 78, of Belews Creek, NC, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2026, while surrounded by his family.

Jack was born on June 24, 1947, in Lakeland, Florida. Growing up in Florida, Jack attended Miami Military Academy before joining the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Shortly after completing his service, Jack devoted his life to Jesus Christ, attended Hyles-Anderson College, and became a full-time pastor, continuing to faithfully serve God until his passing - a lifelong commitment he faithfully kept.

Jack is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shavonne, daughters, Julina, Javonne and her husband, David, Ja’Nae, and grandchildren, Sadie Quinn and Brooks Levi. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Dee Hilliard, Sr., and Margaret Alice Hall.

He was a deeply social and joyful man who never met a stranger. Known for his warm spirit, sense of humor, and love of conversation, he brought light and laughter wherever he went. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by people - whether spending time with family, friends, or members of his church community.

His faith was the foundation of his life. He faithfully served the Lord for over 47 years, working in church ministry, leading others to Christ, and serving as a devoted pastor. He was steadfast in his beliefs, devoted to his word, and rarely missed an opportunity to worship and serve.

He especially cherished his role as a grandfather, finding great joy in his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his kindness, and the genuine love he showed to everyone he encountered.

A private service for close friends and family was held. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Salisbury Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Dr. Jack will always be remembered by his character, which reflected his life verse, 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
