Mr. Jack Neil Wolverton "the Lawn Mower Man", 88, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born September 25, 1929 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to the late Skelly Hugh Wolverton and Clarice Juanita Johnston Wolverton. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his time in the military he became an ordained minister and served in the ministry. Jack then opened Forrest Hill Lawn Mower Service, which was a small engine and lawn mower business. He was also a lover of gardening and animals of all kind. In addition to his parents Jack is preceded in death by his brother, Max Baer Wolverton and two sons, Jackie Don Wolverton and Clarence William Wolverton. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Zubie Sloan Wolverton; three children: Hugh Vernon Wolverton of Winston-Salem, NC, Anita Lynn Wolverton of Winston-Salem, NC, and Chris Neil Wolverton (Kathy) of Advance, NC; six grandchildren: Brian Wolverton (Monica) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Melissa Lynn Wolverton of Charlotte, NC, Candace Grace Wolverton of Winston-Salem, NC, Jackie Lynn Aguirre (Sebastian) of Jacksonville, FL, Troy Neil Wolverton of Advance, NC, and Emily Marie Wolverton of Advance, NC; and nine great-grandchildren: Alexandria, William Forrest, William Chance, Landry, Jordan, Audrey, Kaitlyn, Brinkley, and Quinley. The family will receive friends 11:00 - 11:45 prior to the service at the funeral home. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Following the service there will be a private interment conducted for the family.
