Jackie Lee Gordon

Mr. Jackie Lee Gordon, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Stokes Co. on October 27, 1935, the son of the late Samuel Lee Gordon and Evelyn Ayers Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. He retired from the United States Postal Service with 41 years of service. His final position was the Postmaster of Walnut Cove. After retiring, Mr. Gordon enjoyed traveling as a tour bus driver for Coach USA. His passions were hunting, golfing and spending time with his family. He was a loving father and devoted husband. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Graham Blake Gordon; and a great-granddaughter, Emmerson Jane Gordon. Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife of fifty nine and a half years, Evelyn; two sons, Grant Gordon and wife, Jill of Pinnacle and Gregory Gordon and wife, Teresa of Pfafftown; a daughter, Leigh Spillman and husband, James of Greer, SC; his grandchildren, Ryan Gordon (Allison), Brandon Gordon, Trevor Gordon, Dustin Gordon (Katelyn), Candace Gordon, Ashleigh Spillman, Christopher Spillman and Garrett Spillman; a sister, Janice Bowen (Rex) of King; a brother, Phillip Gordon (Marie) of Pinnacle and a sister-in-law, Harriet Gordon of Smithsburg, MD. Funeral services for Mr. Gordon will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Pastors Gary Mahathey and Jeff Coppley officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Maple Springs United Methodist Church. Mr. Gordon's family appreciates the medical care and devotion given to him by the staff of Forest Heights and Forsyth Medical Center.
