Jackie Mickey

Mr. Jackie "Mick" Mickey, 82, passed away August 4, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born August 6, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Samuel Mickey and Sarah Barkley Mickey. Mick played football and graduated from Rural Hall School. He served honorably in the United States Airforce from 1955 to 1959 as a 2nd Class Airman. After leaving the service, he began his career with RJ Reynolds and retired with 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Zach Rushing; sister, Peggy Flynn; brother, Ernest "Buddy" Mickey; and a stepson, Michael Brannock. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ruby Branson Mickey; two daughters, Lisa Mickey Nichols (Michael), and Karen Mickey Clark (Steve); son, Kenneth Mickey (Michele); four grandchildren, Marshall and Stevie Clark, Samantha and Teresa Mickey; four step children, David Brannock, Kenneth Brannock (Beverly), Terry Rushing, and Mark Rushing (Dana); three step grandchildren, Christopher and Josh Brannock (Amber), Hannah Tucker; five step great-grandchildren, Montana, Allysia, Chase, Aimslee, and Azlynn; one aunt, Lena Mickey Smith; one sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Mickey, and two special friends, Patsy Brannock and Phil Holt; in addition many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Garry Mickey officiating. Military honors will be observed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home.
