Jacob Orlan “Hoot” Brown, Jr., 91, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC formerly of Bridgeville, Delaware, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Forsyth Medical Center. Hoot was born in Sussex County Delaware on December 10, 1932  to the late Jacob Orlan Brown, Sr. and Mildred Scott Brown. He retired from Verizon after 35 years of service. Hoot was an avid golfer, a past president of the Bridgeville Lions Club, and a past president of the Bridgeville Library Board of Trustees. He was also a member of Union Methodist Church in Bridgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wayne Brown.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce Brown, of the home; a daughter, Donna Stamey and husband, Kirk of Pfafftown, and several other friends and family members.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date in Delaware. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Education & Support Group of Sussex County, PO Box 56, Lewis DE 19958. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
