Jacqueline Donavant

KERNERSVILLE - Jacqueline Evelyn Stowe Donavant, 81, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Jackie was born on March 3, 1936 in Rockingham County to Howard and Estelle Doss Stowe. She was a graduate of Tri-City High School and Danville (VA) School of Nursing. After her marriage, Jackie worked as an operating room nurse in Martinsville, VA. Later, she and her family moved to Kernersville where she worked as a nurse for the Women's Hospital /Cone in Greensboro. Jackie was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church and especially loved her Sunday School Class and the Best Years Fellowship Group. She also enjoyed frequent lunches and meetings with her fellow nurses. Jackie was blessed with a loving and happy marriage for over 50 years, along with the love of her family and special friends. She enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work for her church and community.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Wilton "Dickie" Donavant; a daughter, Nora Estelle Donavant; sisters, Katherine Stowe Gillespie and Genevieve Stowe; brothers, Leonard Stowe and Franklin Stowe; and a sister-in-law, Ida Lawson Stowe.
Surviving are her son, Lewis Jeffrey Donavant of Macon, GA; a granddaughter, Sierra Donavant of Warner Robins, GA; great granddaughter, Grey Donavant; a sister, Brenda Joyce (Steve); a sister-in-law, Shirley LaPrad Stowe of Eden; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends and family.
A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Brad Wright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA.
