Mr. James Wesley ""Pop"" Arrington, Sr., 81, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Surry Co. on April 25, 1935 the son of the late Willis Daniel Arrington and Grace Mae Cooke Arrington. Mr. Arrington was a member and Deacon at Rural Hall Christian Church. He owned and operated Wes' Sharpening Service along with his son and grandson. Mr. Arrington loved motorcycles and rode as long as his health allowed him to. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed deeply but, will always be remembered for his hard work, zest for life and his sense of humor. He loved his family dearly and was his children and grandchildren's biggest fan at all of their ballgames, races and events. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Jo Arrington. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy Swaim Arrington; two sons, James Wesley ""Wes"" Arrington, Jr. and Greg Arrington; three grandchildren, Justin Arrington (Jennifer), Krista Bowen (Chris) and Kayla Arrington; two great-grandchildren, Saylor Bowen and Sawyer Arrington and a sister, Norma Arrington Blakeley. He is also survived by special his friends, Fred Crumpler, Gerald ""Dick"" Johnson and Carol Arrington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Rural Hall Christian Church with Wesley McCarter, minister officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
