James McChristian Bodenheimer Jr., died peacefully at home on May 30, 2019. Born September 8, 1940 to James McChristian Sr. and Myrtle Willard Bodenheimer in Winston-Salem, NC. Jim is survived by sister, Annie Westmoreland and brother Robert Bodenheimer. He is predeceased by sisters Virginia Jones and Edna Clark. Son, Jeff Bodenheimer and his wife Jenn live in Lewisville with Carly and Brooke. Jim’s granddaughter, Haley Anese recently married Trey Nixon and they live in Winston-Salem. Grandson Kellan attends Western Carolina University and shares the same love of golf as ‘Ops.’ Jim and the love of his life, Kay, were married for 58 years. After rich careers with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, they enjoyed traveling and time spent with family in the mountains of Virginia and Ocean Isle Beach. Jim was an avid Golfer and Fisherman and was a huge Wake Forest fan. Jim was a Mason, 32nd degree, passionate about serving others. He had a wildly contagious fun personality and never, ever met a stranger. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, June 2 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Lewisville, NC. The celebration of life memorial service will be at 2:00 PM with Dr. George Smith, Mr. Jim Westmoreland, and Mary Ann Haskett officiating with a graveyard service to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Shriner Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
