James Moses Brock

James Moses Brock

James Moses Brock, 83, died March 3, 2014, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born September 24, 1930, to Burr Coley Brock, Sr., and Laura Tabor Brock.
He was a graduate of Farmington High School and the University of North Carolina Law School in Chapel Hill. He was a captain in the US Air Force. A member of Farmington United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School superintendent, teacher of the young adult class and in other offices of the church. He served as state secretary of the North Carolina Young Republican Club and was a member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge 265.
Mr. Brock served as county solicitor for Davie County, worked for the Federal Trade Commission and as an attorney for the Veterans Administration. Later he served as the Veterans Service Officer in Mocksville.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Sloop Brock, son, Mark Stanley of Kalispell, Montana, daughter, Kelly Noel Stanley Tuttle (Lee) of Concord, two grandsons, Brock and Adam Tuttle; three brothers, John Tabor Brock (Mary), of Mocksville, Richard Joseph Brock (Carroll) and William Laurie Brock, (Jane) of Farmington, a sister, Mrs. Frances Brock Tucker of Eden, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Jo H. Brock of Farmington. He was preceded in death by a son, Preston Stanley, two brothers, Burr C. Brock, Jr., and Rufus L. Brock, and a sister Miss Margaret Jo Brock.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Saturday, March 8, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, and a funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9, at 2:00 PM, at Farmington United Methodist Church. The Reverend Sara Scruggs will officiate. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Farmington Community Cemetery.
