James Eldrud Chappell

Mr. James Eldrud Chappell, 87, died on October 27, 2016, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. James was born in Forsyth County on November 27, 1928, to Charlie Clifton and Ola Myers Chappell. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from R.J. Reynolds in 1989. He enjoyed golfing at the beach and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leon Chappell, Thurmond Chappell, Donald C. Chappell, and an infant twin brother; and one sister, Grace Walker. Surviving are his loving wife, Bonnie Mecum Chappell; one daughter, Sherry Chappell; special grandson, Billy Lowe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel on Monday, October 31, 2016, at 11:00am with Rev. Eric Tang officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 4:00-6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B.
