James T. Groce, Sr.

Mr. James T. Groce, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 11, 2016. He was born April 18, 1930 in Forsyth County. He retired from Gravely Tractors in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents Ames and Flossie Groce and two sisters, Gertrude and Katherine. He is survived by his wife Jane of 62 years; one son, Jimmy and wife Mitzi; three grandchildren, Beth Moraitis, Jamie Groce and wife Amanda, and Lisa Harris and husband Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Sophia and Alex Moraitis, and Cedar Harris; one brother, Jerry Groce and wife Ansley. The family would like to thank the ladies of Hospice and Palliative Care for their support and kindness. A special thank you to Jamie and Amanda Groce for their generosity and care in granddad's final days. A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 3:00pm at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilyn L. Weiler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
