Winston Salem - James Nicholas Hasenflu, Jr., passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. James was born on May 16, 1928 in Butler, PA to James Hasenflu, Sr. and Ada Snyder Hasenflu. He was a Corporal in the US Marine Corp. As a member of the Fifth Fielders, he was stationed in Guam from March 1946 through January 1948. James was an aircraft mechanic for over 40 years and had his private pilot's license. James enjoyed playing the organ and assisted in installing church organs for many years. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Kearns and Mildred Bittinger; and one brother, William Hasenflu.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Jayne Hall Hasenflu; his daughter, Diane Hasenflu Nesbitt (Stephen); three sons, David Nicholas Hasenflu, Dennis Michael Hasenflu and Chris Wayne Hasenflu (Diane); 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Stewart; and two brothers, C.R. Hasenflu (Pete) and Earl Hasenflu.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Hawtree, and Evangelist Daniel Hawtree, Sr. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be 9:00 AM, Monday, August 21, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery
