James "Jim" Edward Cunningham

James “Jim” Edward Cunningham, 82, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Jim was born July 18, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Marvin and Mildred Johnson Cunningham. Jim was a good man, always one to lend a helping hand or offer sage advice. He was a person of devout Christian faith, strong moral character and traditional family values. Never one to boast and he saved many lives and positively impacted countless others during his esteemed firefighting career. Preceding him in death was a sister, Wanda Geisel (Sonny). Surviving is his wife, Betty Sweet Cunningham; daughter, Susan Long (Aaron); two sons, Patrick Cunningham and David Cunningham (Erin); four grandchildren, Sean (Elissa), Andrew, Dustin (Katelyn), and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Caden, and Gracelynn; also surviving are a brother, Marvin Cunningham (Barbara) and a sister, Joann Rudolph (Ralph). A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister, Matt Huddleston and Elder, David Bermudez officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
