James "Jim" Harold Jenkins

James Harold Jenkins, 75 of Winston-Salem, entered his eternal rest unexpectedly on August 28, 2026. He Was born on December 7, 1950 and grew up in Madison County, North Carolina. He married the love of his life, Teresa Boone Jenkins on April 7, 1972, and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Jim, as he was lovingly called by everyone who knew him, was a US Army Veteran and served as a fifth Army medic during his military career. In 1980, he graduated From Mars Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Jim practiced as a physical therapist after he received his certification, Spending the first portion of career at OTeen VA Hospital followed by decades-long therapy work serving in public health, home health (his passion), and a shorter stent within a local rehab facility. He moved his family, a wife and two sons, to Winston Salem, NC in May of 1986, where he and his family still reside. He loved spending time outdoors working in the garden, piddling with odd jobs, and of course, catering to his flock of chickens. He loved spending time up at the farm where he felt like he was in his element. He was consistent with always putting others before himself and he loved with his whole heart.

Jim was preceded in Death by his parents, Ed and Madeline Coddington Jenkins, two brothers, Johnny Jenkins and Sam Jenkins.

He leaves his loving wife, Teresa Boone Jenkins and two sons, Curtis (Brandon) Jenkins of the home, Andrew (Matt) Jenkins Myers of Statesville NC, four beautiful grandchildren Savannah, Chloe, and Jada Jenkins and Peter James Myers, who shares his birthdate.

Jim is also survived by four other siblings: Sharon (Louis) Caldwell of Leicester, NC, Hazel (Pete) Peterson of Mauriceville, TX, David (Janet) Jenkins of Canton, NC. and Shirley Semesky of Elmira, New York. He also had a host of special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

Jim’s wishes for cremation are being assisted by Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
