James "Jim" Edward Taylor, Sr.

James “Jim” Edward Taylor, Sr., 92, was called to his heavenly home to meet his Lord and Savior face to face on August 28, 2024. He was born October 10, 1931 in Dunn NC where he spent his younger years. There, he met and married his sweetheart, Nancy. James retired from Wake Forest University where he worked as a locksmith. His most rewarding jobs were providing for his family and raising his four children. He lived by the Bible as his guide for daily living. He was truly a Biblical example for his family and loved them unconditionally. In return, his family truly loved and respected him. James loved serving the Lord and spreading the gospel. He served many years as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and had a ministry of preaching in a nursing home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three daughters, Ann Evans, Pat Gordy (Anthony), Rose Hedgecock (Aubrey); son, James E. Taylor, Jr. (Missy); 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. II Timothy 4:7 fits his life perfectly over the last few months, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.” A service honoring James’s life will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church, 1548 Old Hollow Road. Winston-Salem, NC 27105. There will be a visitation at 10am and service at 11 officiated by Rev. Gary Styers, Rev Danny Poindexter, and Rev. Anthony Gordy. Following the service, interment will be held at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
