James “Jim” Marshall Turner, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025. He was born on December 31, 1936, to the late Bruce Wilson Turner and Frances Jones Turner.
Jim was a well-known local businessman, owning and operating Triangle Campers and Jileke Gun Store. He had a passion for woodworking, hunting, and fishing, and was a past president of the Winston-Salem Craft Guild. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was an active member of both the Woodmen of the World and the Travelers Protective Association.
A devoted member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church, Jim was involved in the Men’s Club and was especially known for cooking at the church’s annual BBQ fundraiser—an event he cherished.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret “Jeanette” Turner; sisters, Carol Turner Forrest and Elizabeth Neeley Turner; a brother-in-law, Herman Cartner; and a sister-in-law, Coleen Peacock.
Left to honor his memory are his son, Alex Turner (Patricia); brother, Bruce Steven Turner (Hilda); a sister, Mary “Polly” Turner Hilton; grandchildren, Rodolfo Rivera, Micaela Rivera, and Camila Rafizadeh (Camron); great-granddaughter, Vivienne Rafizadeh; several nieces and nephews; his cousin and dear friend, Johnny Scott Turner (Eva); and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Cartner.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. There will be no formal visitation. A private family committal will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
