James Kendrick, Jr.

Mr. James Windol Kendrick, Jr., 71, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 6, 1947 to James Windol Kendrick, Sr. and Marcella Rudisill Kendrick, who were part owners of the Kendrick Brick and Tile Company in Monroe, North Carolina. James was a native of Monroe, North Carolina, but had relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to be close to his only daughter and granddaughters. He served in the National Guard in Bravo Battery Artillery in Monroe, North Carolina. James was a graduate of the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended Furman University and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC Charlotte. His career in Charlotte started in 1970 when he joined NCNB as an auditor and later transferred to the IT Operating Systems Area, and eventually became Technical Team Leader of Operating Systems until 1991. James created his own consulting company and subcontracted with Southeastern Technology Group in Charlotte, NC. He was a contract MVS Systems Programmer for the Charlotte City and Mecklenburg County from 1992 until 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family includes his loving wife of 46 years, Ann Pickler Kendrick; daughter, Anne Catherine Kendrick Webster of Winston-Salem; and three granddaughters, Lily, Elizabeth, and Mary Alex Webster. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Kendalls Baptist Church in New London, North Carolina.  In lieu of flowers, memorials  may be made to Senior Services, Inc., 2895 Shorefair Dr NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
