James E. Mabe, 83, of Winston-Salem, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his home. He was born to Allie Draper and Charlie F. Mabe on July 26, 1928. He was a retired electrician and served in the U.S. Airborne Division. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceding him in death was his parents; and a brother, Allan Charlie Mabe. Surviving are his wife, Alta Frye Mabe; three daughters, Sherry Reid (Calvin), Chi Chi Mikels (Ray), and Patricia Mabe; grandchildren, Darryl Bolden (Rosa), Diane Young (Scott), Heather Bolden, ""Bud"" Van Sutphin, Maleia Adams and Rana Booth; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three step children, Don Brewer (Gail), Ron Brewer (Pat), and Debbie Sisk (Bobby); four step grandsons, and Casey Sisk was special; several step great grandchildren; three half sisters, Catherine Bills (James), Barbara Robertson, and Shirley Cochran (G.C.); four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Lillie Mabe, Ella Worley (Johnny), Annie Eddinger (Jack), Odessa Rhoads (Charlie), and ""Bucky"" Frye (Janet). A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Bucky Frye officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family requests any memorials be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
