James Mack Miller

James “Jimmy” or “Jim” Mack Miller, 80, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 22, 2024. In his passing, he was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 61 years, Thelma Shatley Miller, who passed on February 17, 2024.

He was born on June 3, 1943 in Jefferson, NC to the late Milt and Edna Miller. He proudly served as a member of the United States Army and the United States Army Reserve. He later moved to Winston-Salem, NC to be a carpenter for Thomasville furniture.

Jimmy was a man of faith whose life exemplified the values of compassion, kindness, and service. As a well-loved reverend, he dedicated himself to spreading the message of God’s word. He and Thelma were members of White Road Baptist Church in Belews Creek, NC.

Jimmy never met a stranger and would bring happiness to everyone around with his kind grin and contagious laugh. He was the voice of reason, leaving an imprint on the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was known for his carefully crafted peanut butter balls (“Christmas Candy”) and apple butter. Jimmy enjoyed playing checkers, searching for motorhomes, fishing, collecting coins, and gifting his great-grandchildren “ice cream money.”

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Milt and Edna Miller; wife, Thelma Miller; and brother, Billy Dean Miller.

Jimmy is survived by his daughters, Dawn Patrick (Jon) and Marilyn Kudro (Dennis); six grandchildren, Holli Draper (Lee), Hailey Vogt (Sam), Cody Pritchett (Morgan),Tyler Pritchett (Haliegh), Liz Lewis (Mason), and Austin Kudro; six great-grandchildren, Ike & Jimmy Draper, Jack & Hayes Vogt, Clayton Pritchett, and Sadie Lewis; siblings, Rebecca Ann Hall and Bobby Ray Miller (Linda); and many nieces and nephews.
