James Melvin Nelson

Mr. James Melvin Nelson, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home. He was born to the late James Henry Nelson and Myrtle Stratton Nelson on August 24, 1932, in Rockingham County. James was a dedicated, faithful, and hard-working Chirstian man. He attended Lexwin Baptist Church for many years. James loved spending quality time with his family, especially their annual beach trips throughout the years. In his free time, James enjoyed reading the bible and watching sports. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Nelson; sister, Ruth Underwood; granddaughter, Carolyn M. Nelson; and son-in-law, Roy Henderson, Jr. He is survived by his son, Rick Nelson (Moreschi); daughter, Michelle Henderson; grandchildren, Richard Nelson, Ryan Henderson (Leslie), and Jordan Henderson; great-grandchildren, AJ, Matthew, and RJ; sister, Jane Lillard; and numerous other extended family members and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Lexwin Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends before the service from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church.
