Our beloved husband and father, James Harold Pitts, Jr., 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 2, 2026, while receiving care at King Health and Rehabilitation Center in King, NC. Mr. Pitts was born August 1,1942 in Forsyth County to James Harold and Cathryn Lucille Holshouser Pitts, both now deceased. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy 1961-1965 and served as a radioman aboard the USS Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1962, he married the former Joyce Starr Williams and, together, they raised two sons, David Alan Pitts and Jeffrey Daniel Pitts. His beloved wife of 47 years preceded him in death in 2009 following complications from brain cancer. In 2016, he married Anna Wilson Pitts, who survives. Mr. Pitts retired from Roadway Express after 37 years of dedicated service. He was an operations manager at the time of his retirement. He loved the Lord with all his heart, proclaimed his eternal salvation by the grace of God, and had been a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church for 49 years. He was proudly a member of the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. In addition to his wife of 10 years, Anna Wilson Pitts, he is survived by his sons, David and Daniel Pitts, both of Winston-Salem; step-sons, Daniel and Robert Blackwell; and step-grandchildren Skylar and Zander Blackwell. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2026 at Woodland Baptist Church by Pastor Tim Gammons. The family will receive friends at the church following the conclusion of the service. Private entombment will be on Monday at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family would like to offer a special “thank you” to the staff of King Health and Rehabilitation Center for the thoughtful and compassionate care given to Mr. Pitts. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel)
