James Martin Reid

James Martin Reid, 69, passed away at his home on November 5, 2013. James was born April 5, 1944 to Thelma Martin Reavis and James Fletcher Reid in Forsyth County. After spending his youth in Winston-Salem he went on to attend Campbell University. As a young man, he went to work for RJR Tobacco Company and retired with over 40 years of service. James was an accomplished gunsmith and mechanic who took pride in all of his work. He enjoyed all animals and cherished his pets, especially his chocolate lab, Abe. He loved his neighbors, friends and family. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Adams Reid; and stepfather, B.L. Reavis. Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Reid Smith (Trevor) of Wilmington; and mother, Thelma Reavis of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2103 at Westlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Hiatt officiating. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
