James William "Jimmy" Rutledge

Mr. James William ""Jimmy"" Rutledge, 81, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Abington, VA on August 7, 1933 the son of the late Preston William Rutledge and Anna McVey Rutledge. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw, brother and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. Pawpaw looked forward to any time he could spend with his family enjoying a meal, telling stories or just relaxing at home watching a favorite television show. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; Jeffrey Adam Rutledge and a sister; Barbara Jean Howard. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ann Kennedy Rutledge, a daughter; Lisa Grantz (Mark) of Columbus, OH, two sons; Randy Rutledge (Diane) and Lynn Rutledge (Lynn) both of Winston-Salem, seven grandchildren; Shannon Chambers (Michael), Jason Rutledge (Jackee), Jamie Rutledge (Gina), Chris Rutledge (Donna), Amy Wright (Paul), Alan Lee (Amber) and Allison West (Kyle), and 22 great-grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by a sister; Joann Tester and three brothers; Donald Haley, Jimmy Haley and Jackie Haley. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall with Mr. Michael Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
