Prof. James E. Sizemore, 93, passed away on Memorial Day, May 27, 2019. He was born in Erwin, Tennessee in 1925 to Jay Hugh and Carrie H. Sizemore. In World War II he narrowly survived as his ship, the LST 507 was sunk by the torpedo of a German E-Boat. Following the war, he served 39 years and most of his career as a Professor of Law at Wake Forest University, from 1953 to 1992. He was loved by students, and well known for his contribution to the rules of Civil Procedure in the North Carolina Legislature. He was also a music lover and played in several bluegrass bands throughout his lifetime. He is a world champion Dobro player. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Amilee Caldwell Sizemore, formerly of Crewe, Virginia; his son, Thomas E. Sizemore (Jettie); two grandchildren, Jonathan Sizemore (Kerri) and Jocelyn Sizemore Bates (Daniel); three great-grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, and Sailor Bates; and brother, David Sizemore. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Reynolda Church, EPC on 2200 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm prior to the service.
