James Southern

Belews Creek - Mr. James Richard Southern, otherwise known to everyone as "Pop", 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born July 28, 1927 to the late Walter Jackson and Fannie Linville Southern. James was the last of nine siblings. He worked and retired twice from Pegram Brothers Company. He loved farming, and just being outdoors. He was a big "jokester" who loved to clown around. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; Claudia Jessups Southern.
Surviving are; his daughter, Wanda Fisher (Bob), one grandson, Richard Dezarn (Laveta), three great grandchildren, Brandi Lankford (Andrew), Miranda Mabe (Jake), Andrew Mabe (Christina), Five great-great Grandchildren, a brother in law, and multiple nieces and nephews.
A service will be held 7:00 PM Monday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Danny Hemrick and Pastor Roscoe Bowden. The family will receive friends from 5-7 at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
