James Dalton Templeton

Mr. James Dalton Templeton, 96, of Winston-Salem, passed away on June 23, 2017 at his residence. James was born on August 20, 1920, in Forsyth County to John Dockery and Sallie Isenhour Templeton. He was a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church for many years where he worked with the publishing ministry. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific theatre in the United States Marine Corp. He was a brick mason, where he helped on the reconstruction of Old Salem, having worked on the Brothers House, Wait Chapel Baptist Hospital and Forsyth Medical Center. He loved hunting, fishing and playing golf. But most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Lucy Templeton and also his brothers and sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Clara Call of Winston-Salem; two sons, Dwight Templeton and wife Brenda of Walnut Cove, Arthur Templeton and wife Ann of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Martin of Walnut Cove. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. James Brown and Rev. Benny Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
