James Thomas Caudill

James Thomas Caudill, 92, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born to the late James Guy Caudill and Alma Jane Medley Caudill on November 27, 1933, in Wilkes County, NC.

James was a proud army veteran who voluntarily served from 1952 to 1960. He received a purple heart for extensive injuries he sustained during the Korean War. James retired from Old Dominion in 2006 with 50 years in the trucking industry. He enjoyed bowling, beekeeping, fishing, and gardening. James recently attended the flight of honor in 2024.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucy Pardue Caudill; sons, Ed Caudill, and Jerry Caudill, Sr.; and brother, Kyle Caudill.

He is survived by his beloved children, Pat Caudill, Dale Caudill (Beth), and Paul Caudill (Rhonda); grandchildren, Rob Caudill (Beth), Jerry Caudill, Jr. (Kimberlee), Christina Shepherd (Stefan), Alyssa Caudill (Jason), and Thomas Caudill; great-grandchildren, Robbie Caudill, Izzy Steinman, and Jerry Caudill III; siblings, Nan Wrenn, Sam Caudill (Frances), and Richard Caudill (Mary).

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Officiating the service is Lloyd Bryant. A viewing will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, before the service.
