James “Tommy” Adams, III, 67, died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. Tommy was born on March 6, 1952 in Winston-Salem to James T. Adams, Jr. and Marie Cody Adams. He graduated from Parkland High School and retired from Reynolds Tobacco Company, Tobaccoville plant, in 2009. Tommy loved to fish, especially fresh water fish, taking trips to Lake Norman, Belews Lake and Badin Lake. He was always guaranteed to catch the biggest fish. Tommy is survived by his parents, James T. Adams, Jr. and Marie Cody Adams of Winston-Salem; sister, Beverly A. Ellison of Lewisville; brother, Dennis Adams of Winston-Salem; nephews, Joshua T. Ellison (Megan) and Lloyd Adams all of Raleigh; and dear special friends, Frenchie Holcomb and Ted Holcomb. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel, with Rev. Chaz Snider officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In memory of Tommy’s laid-back style, the family encourages friends and family to wear casual attire to the service. Memorials may be made to N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, 1702 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
