Jane Hoffman Conner

Jane Hoffman Conner, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023, at The Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC. Jane was born on July 7, 1941, in Winston-Salem, NC, to the late Paul Clifton and Lucy Jane Swain Hoffman.  She grew up with her older brother, the late Paul Calvin Hoffman.  She graduated from Griffith High School in 1959 and married her soulmate on August 8, 1959.  Jane began her career in the insurance industry employed by Security Life & Trust and Mutual of Omaha in 1959.  She furthered her career working at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the engineering department from 1980 to 1989.  In 1990, she joined the staff of the North Carolina State Vocational Rehabilitation Services at Forsyth Memorial Hospital until her retirement in January 2001. 

Jane loved her family and her church. She enjoyed attending Union Grove Baptist Church and the Senior Adult trips hosted by Rev. Harold & Barbara Fletcher. She attended all of her grandchildren’s events, including baseball, basketball, golf, and band concerts. She also enjoyed reading her Daily Bread.  

In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Calvin Hoffman. 

She is survived by her husband, Bill W. Conner; son, Billy Conner (Robin); grandchildren, Christopher (Carli), Katie (Peyton), and Kelsie (Carson); sister-in-law’s Hilda Hoffman & Nancy (Ray) Bodsford; niece, Mandy; nephew, Brent; and her beloved cat, Goldie. 

There will be a celebration of Jane’s life at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lexington, NC, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10:00AM.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Friedberg Family Medicine, Trinity Elms, and Hospice of Davidson County for all of their assistance and support during Jane’s illness.
