Jane Freeman Dillon

Mrs. Jane Freeman Dillon, 72, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2026, in Ashe County, NC. She was born on November 28, 1953, in Lumberton, NC to Thomas and Rose Lee Freeman. She was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and UNC Greensboro. Jane worked for Northwestern Bank and later taught 4th Grade at Piney Grove Elementary School. She also worked for the U.S. Veteran’s Administration until retirement in 2018.

Jane had many interests, hobbies, and a love for life. She loved being around people, painting, going to the gym, and spending time at her mountain home in Ashe County. She had tireless energy and loved her family. Jane especially loved attending church and Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 46 years, George Dillon; her daughter, Georgia Channels (husband, Michael); two grandchildren, Shelby and Charlie; along with many other family and friends.

A funeral service for Jane will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Pastor Nathan Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will take place following the service. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Dillon Family.
