Mrs. Jane ""Nana"" Armstrong Dodson, 85, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County to Rev. Turner Dewey Armstrong and Margie Land Armstrong. Mrs. Dodson was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville where she taught pre-school Sunday school for 25 years. Mrs. Dodson enjoyed cooking and her family loved her chocolate pie and chocolate chip cookies. She was fond of flowers, hummingbirds, and challenging puzzles. She had a sharp mind and a quick wit and she always had an encouraging word for others which exemplified her close walk with the Lord. Her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Mrs. Dodson was preceded in death by her parents, brother, T.D. ""Buddy"" Armstrong, Jr.; sister, Frances A. Collins; and two infant sons. Surviving is a son, Wayne Dodson and wife Becky of Rural Hall; a granddaughter, Jena Rhyne and husband David of Clemmons; a grandson, Brad Dodson and wife Emily of Black Mountain; three great granddaughters, Katelyn Rhyne, Julianna Rhyne, and Lisa Rhyne; a great grandson on the way; two sisters, Cherise A. Long of Pleasant Garden and Ruth A. Kirkman of Rural Hall; brother-in-law, Joe Collins of Cartersville, GA; husband, Charlie L. Dodson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt, Rev. Terry Rausch, and Rev. Ed Locke officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the church.
