Jane Roberts, 78, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center following a brief and sudden illness.
Jane was born on November 25, 1947, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to James Albert and Bernice Roberson. She lived a life defined by her independence, compassion, determination, caring nature, and deep commitment to her faith.
Jane spent many years working at Western Electric and Lucent Technologies before moving to Charleston, South Carolina, where she owned/operated her own landscape business. She later returned to North Carolina, where she worked for FedEx until her retirement. After retirement, Jane devoted much of her time to caring for her parrots, a passion that brought her great joy and reflected her nurturing and compassionate spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert and Bernice Roberson.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Tina Baldwin McDonald and husband Scott McDonald of Kernersville, NC; her brother, Jimmy Roberson of Little River, SC; Tina’s father, Michael Baldwin; Angela Roberson (niece), Bryan Roberson (nephew) and numerous cousins and friends.
Jane’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a longtime member of Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville, where she faithfully served her church family through her bread ministry for 15 years. She was also recognized by the church for this dedicated service earlier this year. She also enjoyed participating in annual Vacation Bible School events, where she shared her beloved parrots and created special memories with children and families in the church community.
Though Jane was a private person, those who knew her experienced her kindness, strength, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the people and causes she cared about. She will be remembered for her quiet service, her love of family and animals, her faith, and the meaningful ways she touched the lives of others.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC, immediately followed by a funeral service at the church. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Triad Baptist Church, Kernersville, NC or to the nonprofit organization, Parrot Guardian (c/o Jackie Schaible, 5915 Moravia Rd. W-S, NC 27127). Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting with services for the family.
Jane’s life was a reflection of faith, dedication, compassion, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
