Janet Atwood

Janet Atwood passed away surrounded by family and friends December 17, 2022, following a battle with cancer.

Janet was born August 18, 1959, in Winston Salem, NC. After graduating from Parkland High school, Janet joined Piedmont Airlines and spent her time traveling with her friends, playing softball for Piedmont, and enjoying her youth.

Janet lived a fun and simple life, exactly how she wanted. In living life to the fullest, Janet especially loved spending time with her “golden girls” (Sally Hutchens, Anna Rathbone, & Donna Phillips) and listening to Motown. Later in life, her two favorite people in the world were her grandkids, Skylar & Grayson. She loved dancing in the kitchen with Lindsey & Joe. As long as there was good music, Janet had a good time!

Janet’s posse- Vickie Crouser, Sharon Fletcher, Donna Morris, Tori Plemmons, Sandy & Donnie Tesh, Judy Cox, Clara Martin, and Sally Hutchens have been her backbone.

Janet is survived by her children, Lindsey Atwood (Joseph & Grayson Lambert) & Tyler Atwood (Skylar Harrison). Her mother; Mary Jane Archer (preceded by Robert Archer), and sister Marilyn Kennedy.

A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park on Friday December 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Bishop officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
