Janet Elam Felk

Mrs. Janet Elam Felk, wife of Jack Carter Felk of this city, passed away on August 12, 2019.  She and Mr. Felk had been married for 68 years. They were married July 15, 1950. She was born in Forsyth County on August 16,1928, to Edwin Walter Elam and Rose Jean Foster Elam. She was educated in earlier years at Rural Hall Elementary and graduated from Campbell Academy and attended Campbell College, Buies Creek, NC. She was a home maker and in earlier years had worked at Western Electric Co. in the Personnel Department. She was a former member of Peace Haven Baptist Church and choir, later joined Calvary Baptist Church. She had done choral work with various groups including the Operetta Association and the chorus of the Mozart Club's presentation of Handel's Messiah for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter Felk; two brothers, William R. Elam and Douglas B. Elam; a sister Rosa Lee Elam Bonin Trapp and her parents. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Sandra F. and Roy E. Robinson of Harrisburg, NC; two sons and daughters in- law, Mark Elam Felk and Tracey Chlystun Felk of Spartanburg SC and Michael Carter Felk and Bonnie Darnell Felk of Yadkinville NC; four grandchildren, Bradley Neil Robinson, Anna Lea Robinson, Stephen Michael Felk and Olivia Rose Felk; and a sister, Frances Elam Orowski of Atlanta, Ga. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to Calvary Baptist Church, 134 S Peace Haven Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
