Janice Marie Gordon Bowen

Mrs. Janice Marie Gordon Bowen, 88, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born on June 9, 1937, in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Samuel Lee Gordon and Evelyn Ayers Gordon. Mrs. Bowen worked as a cafeteria manager for the Stokes County School System and was a member of Pinnacle Community Church. She loved gardening and spending time at the Stokes Family YMCA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex G. Bowen and two brothers, Blake Gordon and Jackie Gordon. Mrs. Bowen is survived by one son, Gordon Bowen (Lisa); one daughter, Lori Anne Bowen; three grandchildren, Kayla Kortan (Kenny), Andrew Bowen (Stephanie) and Madeline Ellerbrock (Trevor); nine great-grandchildren, Raymon Kortan, Isla Kortan, Rhett Kortan, Lainey Kortan, Jacob Bowen, Thomas Bowen, Hazel Ellerbrock, Junie Ellerbrock and Lucy Ellerbrock; She is also survived by one brother, Phillip Gordon (Marie); two sisters-in-law, Ruth James and Lynn Moser and a brother-in-law, Larry Leagans; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dianne Marsden and Rev. Phillip Tutterow officiating. Burial will follow in Pinnacle Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at Trinity United Methodist Church, 725 W. Dalton Rd., King, NC 27021.
