Mrs. Janie Duncan Yancey Frissell, 90, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015. She was born January 26, 1925 in New Bern, NC to the late William Jackson and Bettie Wilson Duncan. Mrs. Frissell was a member of Crews United Methodist Church. She was a welder at the Y 12 Plant in Oak Ridge, TN during WWII. She graduated from the LPN program from Baptist Hospital in the 1960's and worked as a private duty nurse and later sold insurance. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Fred Yancey; her second husband, Harry Frissell and a grandson, Keith Flynn. Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Y. Flynn (Larry) of Walkertown and Kay Y. Crotts (Harold) of Houston, TX; son, Fred Yancey (Ellen) of Oxford, NC; four grandchildren, Dwayne Flynn, Sonia Yancey, Austin Crotts, and Alan Crotts; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith D. Quinn and Vina D. Pierce; a special cousin, Ernest Duncan; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Crews United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Camp officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
