Jean Humble Shumate

Mrs. Jean Humble Shumate, 87, passed away June 2, 2024. She was born August 17, 1936, in Randolph County to the late Carl and Linnie Humble. Jean was a dedicated and hard-working woman who passed her dedication of work on to her grandchildren. She was an enjoyer of classic country, especially Conway Twitty, loved the beach where she would eventually retire, and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Clyde Shumate; two children, Wayne Shumate and Patrica Pesek; a grandchild, Timothy Shumate, and multiple brothers and sisters. Jean is survived by three grandchildren; Jessica P. Garner (Jessica), Adam Pesek (Tashawnna), and Nicholas Pesek, two great-grandchildren; William Aycock and Alexander Aycock; and a brother, Clifford Humble. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00pm Friday, June 7, 2024, at Crestview Memorial Park.
