Jean Carol Hodges Waters

WATERS - GERMANTON
Mrs. Jean Carol Hodges Waters passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born July 13, 1929 in Beaufort County, NC to the late Virginia Lewis Hodges and Thad Hinton Hodges. Mrs. Waters was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church where she worked in the nursery over 30 years and was known as ""Maw-Maw."" She also sang in the church choir. Mrs. Waters retired from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with 34 years of service. She was a member of the Stanleyville Woman's Club. Mrs. Waters loved God, her family, and her friends. She enjoyed keeping up with everyone on facebook. Mrs. Waters always put everyone else before herself.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by her husband, Colbert Dean Waters; grandson, Jeremy Cromer; and three sisters: Virginia Gerard, Libby Watson, and Marion Ruth Sloan. Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Cromer (Steve); son, Dean Waters (Pamela); five grandsons: Matthew Cromer (Amanda), Josh Cromer (Donna), Benjamin Waters, Patrick Waters, and Bradley Waters; three great-grandchildren: Austin Cromer, Molly Cromer, and Jacob Monday; special neighbors, Karen and Vic Hutcherson and their daughters, Shannon and Ashley; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; as well as, many beloved friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 6840 University Parkway, Rural Hall, NC 27045 with the Rev. R. Sidney Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
