Jeanette Atkins Cook

Mrs. Jeanette (Aunt Dumpy) Atkins Cook, 92, of Mocksville, NC also known as “The Goat Lady”, died at her home on Saturday, July 6, 2024 which was always her desire. She was born December 29, 1931 in Forsyth County to Quinton and Mary Seal Atkins. She was a member of Bixby Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Advance V.F.W. Post 8719 Ladies Auxillary. Jeanette ran a commercial goat dairy for many years and later went to public work at Carolon Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester “Pete” Cook; two brothers, Ray and Harold Atkins and two sisters, Aileen Miller and Edna Woody Long. Surviving are her daughter, Sonja Cornatzer (Billy); two brothers, David Atkins and Danny Atkins (Carol); two special nieces, Michelle Allen and Susan Warner and she helped raise a special great niece, Liza Jane and a special great nephew, Sam Warner. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Bonita Quandt officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Bixby Presbyterian Church, 1806 Fork Bixby Road, Advance, NC 27006 or to the donor's choice.
