Jeanette Crews, 84, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born November 11, 1932 in Forsyth County to the late Crosby Everette and Evelyn Matthews Crews.
She was born on Armistice Day and passed on Memorial Day, how appropriate being the patriotic person that she was. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Jeanette retired from Ohio State University after 30 years as a research nurse in Infectious Diseases at Children's Hospital and remained an avid Buckeye fan. She returned to her home here where she was a longtime active member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, and enjoyed life with family and friends. She had a special love for children, so in her memory read a book to a child.
Besides her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Wade A. and Mary Lou Crews; brother-in-law, Jesse E, Smith and her nephew, Brian L. Crews. She is survived by her sister Brenda C. Smith; a niece, Bonnie (Keith) Hyatt; two nephews, Tyndall (Liz) Smith, Stan (Danielle) Smith; great-nieces, Melissa Craig, Claire, Lylah, and Ashley Smith; her great nephew, Preston Smith, and a special friend, who was like a sister, Maggie Stout. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Pisgah United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Family visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall. The family wishes to express a special thank you to her caregiver and friend Terri Ettinger.
