Jeanette Idol Oldham

Ms. Jeanette Idol Oldham, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was born in Forsyth County on May 19, 1936, to the late Boyd and Mamie Idol.

Ms. Oldham lived a life rooted in strong faith. She was a longtime faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and found joy in reading her Bible. She loved cooking and baking for her family, shopping, and deeply valued the time she spent with her family.

Jeanette enjoyed attending her high school class reunions for as long as her health allowed. She dedicated 20 years of service to her career as a secretary before retiring from Varco Pruden in 2002.

Above all, Jeanette will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her daughter, Phyllis Oldham; two brothers, Aldon and Manyon Idol; and a granddaughter, Angela Barlow.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Terri Adams (John) and Janet Guthrie; son, Tim Oldham (Tammie); two granddaughters, Traci Josey and Sarah Paschall (Josh); six great grandchildren, Kenan, Ashlyn, Caleb, Adalynn, Bennett and Nora Claire; a brother, Olin Idol (Myra); and a lifelong friend, Shirley Wess.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Gardens of Memory Walkertown – Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes following the committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
