Mrs. Jeanette Lannon Reavis, 63, of Yadkinville passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Jeanette was born in Burin, Newfoundland, Canada on November 20, 1949 to Michael Francis and Alice McCarthy Lannon. She graduated high school at age 15, attended Littledale Memorial College, and began teaching high school in Buchans, Newfoundland at age 16. In 1975, Jeanette graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accountancy from Wake Forest University. She began her career at the accounting firm of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and retired from RJR Packaging as the Director of Finance in 2000. Jeanette spent the next 13 years as a full time RVer exploring the US, Canada, and Mexico with her husband. Jeanette was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Winston-Salem and later St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville, NC. Jeanette will be remembered as a loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an incredible listener who believed in deep friendships and serving others. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, George ""Dave"" Reavis of the home; three sons: David (Erica) of Chesapeake, VA, Michael (Doris) of Cresskill, NJ, and William (Miranda) of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren: Hunter, Morgan, Connor, Lannon, Mariana, and Marco; a great grandson, Declan; five siblings: Pat Rose (Bill) of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Michelle ""Mickey"" Lannon-Reeves (Dave) of Ottawa, Michael Lannon of Sydney, Australia, Jackie McGrath (Joseph) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Sean Lannon of Vancouver, British Columbia; her closest cousin, Laura McCarthy; special friend, Velina Allen, whom she loved as a daughter, and Velina's children, Zach and Sarah; beloved friends Ray and LaDonna Baginski; seven nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. John Starczewski officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 862 Yadkinville Road, Mocksville, NC 27028. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Becky Stepp and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit for the loving care and attention given to Jeanette.
